David Hobson

David is a junior research engineer at CMTD. He holds an MSc in Computer Science from McGill University, where his research focused on computational narrative frameworks for characterizing how individuals are portrayed in the news. His broader research interests span computational social science, natural language processing, and narrative understanding, with a particular focus on how social media and narratives shape public perception and discourse. His work has been presented at leading NLP venues, including EMNLP, and he has contributed to policy recommendations on AI infrastructure strategy for the Canadian government. Previously, he worked as a Data Scientist at Global Affairs Canada and as a Machine Learning Intern in industry.
