Ben Steel
Engineer
Ben is a PhD student in Computer Science at McGill University, in the Network Dynamics Lab with Prof. Derek Ruths. He's interested in the way that our opinions take form and change, and the role that social media platforms have to play in that formation and dynamic. In the pursuit of this, he is working to develop our computational tools to access these patterns. More broadly, he's interested in using computation to understand society and complex systems. Previously, he has worked as an analyst in venture capital at the Business Development Bank of Canada, and worked in industry as a data engineer, most recently at Ubisoft. In his free time, he loves to apply his skills learned from studying real social systems to exploring speculative social systems through art.
